Began career working in marketing and advertising in New York City upon completion of a Journalism degree from the University of Colorado. After moving to Pittsburgh and raising a family, returned to the workforce to pursue her interest in interior design and founded KH Hillman Interiors. As an active member of the Pittsburgh community, has served concurrently on numerous non-profits and has chaired multiple special events and fundraisers for many institutional organizations.

The Carnegie Museum of Art

  • Member, The Women’s Committee (1995-2014). 

  • Member, Executive Committee (1998-2000; 2012-2014).

  • Member, Nominating Committee (2010-2013).

  • Member, Fellows Committee (2010-Present).  Strategic initiatives for top donors.     

  • Co-Chair, Carnegie International Preview Party (2013). Premier century-old event for The Carnegie Museum of Art, hosted every four years.

  • Chair, Art in Bloom Preview Party (2010).  Fundraiser to underwrite Museum art acquisitions.  Themed “April in Paris,” creating a Parisian street promenade with a multitude of French iconography. 

  • Chair, The Associates (2005-2009).  Recruited donors and planned programming as a financial support organization for the museum to assist in underwriting art exhibitions. 

  • Chair, Panopticon: An Art Spectacular (2002).  Major fundraiser to celebrate the rehanging of the Museum’s permanent art collection, salon style, to enable visitors “a place to see everything” during gallery renovation. 

  • Chair, 10th Anniversary and 11th Antique Shows (2000, 2001). 

  • Co-chair, Carnegie International (1999).  

 

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

  • Board Member (1991-2011).

  • Member, Building and Grounds Committee (2000-2009). Committee supervision of $50MM capital expansion to design and build the Tropical Forest, Visitors Center, and Center for Sustainable Landscapes. 

  • Chair, Nominating Committee (2008-2009). 

  • Member, Executive Committee (2004-2006). 

  • Chair, Marketing Committee (2005). 

  • Member, Capital Campaign (1999-2001).

 

The Pittsburgh Ballet

  • Member, Individual Gifts Committee (2012-2014). Secured significant contributions for the annual fund. 

  • Member, The Ballet Ball (2012, 2013).  Annual fundraiser. 

 

The Pittsburgh Foundation

  • Charter Member, Circle of Pooled Giving (2013).  A new philanthropic initiative that pools donor skills and resources to make a strategic $100,000 contribution to organizations focused on health and the environment in Pittsburgh.  

 

Pittsburgh Promise

  • Charter Member, Promise Keepers (2012-2014).  Received initial Top Recruiter award. 

 

The Neighborhood Academy

  • Chair, Faces of the Future (2012).  Led 10th Anniversary annual fundraiser. 

  • Volunteer (2004). Initiated the design and development of a school library by securing an initial $30M corporate gift.

The Pittsburgh Golf Club

  • Chair, House Committee (2011-2014.)  Headed interior design and renovation committee.  Organized $250M renovation of Pittsburgh Golf Club Café in collaboration with Pat Navarro & Associates.

 

PGA Men’s Senior Players Golf Championship (Fox Chapel Golf Club)  

  • Co-Chair, Player Services (2012, 2013). Managed player registration and concierge services during  week-long national golf tournaments.

  • Residential projects include urban lofts, summer cabins, and formal city residences. 

  • Commercial projects include Sage Restaurant, Long Vue dining room, Gilda’s Club clubhouse, and the renovation of the Pittsburgh Golf Club Café in collaboration with Pat Navarro & Associates.
